It is commonly known that when Mercedes-Benz imported the 107 body cars to the United States, they were only offered with V-8 engines and automatic transmissions. These cars came to the US market where the customer would only choose a color. They were fully equipped and very expensive.

In the European market however, things were a bit different. There were several different engine sizes to choose from, a wide array of options, and a choice between automatic and manual transmission. This White with Black Leather 280 SL, features a 2.8 L six-cylinder engine, and a five speed manual transmission.

It is an extremely well-equipped car with options such as:
Headlamp washers and wipers
Automatic climate control
Premium Becker radio
Heated front seats
Burled walnut veneer
Burled walnut shift knob
Rear seats

We learned of this car through a friend of ours that represented an estate. The owner had recently passed away and his collection was being sold. This European spec 280SL is one of three cars that we bought out of this collection. It is in beautiful condition and has absolutely no rust. The body is straight and free of any dents, dings, scratches or unsightly blemishes. There is no pitting whatsoever on any of the chrome and it only shows minor wear. The convertible top is in excellent condition. Although not new, it has many years of life left in it. The hardtop is in the same condition as the rest of the car, very impressive. Inside this car is truly remarkable. There are no cracks anywhere on the dash, door panels or leather. The burled walnut is in beautiful shape and the center armrest only shows minor wear.

Since this came from an estate, the sellers were not able to locate any books or records for this car. We did a thorough inspection before putting this car on the market for sale. This 280SL does have a US miles per hour speedometer and a US Mercedes-Benz Becker radio.

To prepare this car for sale we had performed:
