Originally purchased to be part of the private Pedigree collection, we are now offering this magnificent 280ZX for sale. To qualify to be part of the Pedigree Collection, a car must be original, low miles, and in exceptional condition. We have been searching for a 280ZX in this exact specification for years until we found this one.

This second generation Datsun 280ZX GL was purchased new from Tri-City Datsun-Mazda in Wood River, IL on March 23, 1981 and it remained with the original family until 2017. This diamond silver over blue two-tone example features the grand luxury package, a 5 Speed transmission, and had an original price of $13,763. Most 280ZX's are prone to rust and have fallen into disrepair. This one however is completely different. This all original example was undercoated at the dealer and well cared for its entire life. As a result there is no rust. It is in truly exceptional condition and looks like it's close to new. The paint, pinstripes, chrome, are all close to flawless. It is almost impossible to tell that this car is 40 years old. There are a couple marks in the paint just above where the hood closes and they are pictured in the photo gallery.

Inside the door panels, dashboard, headliner, interior trim, seats, and carpets are all original and beautiful. Upon opening the door the interior is very impressive. The interior color combination matches the exterior and the condition is truly amazing. The only notable flaw is some delamination on the radio face plate. This is common if they were cleaned with Windex. It takes the finish off.

Mechanically this 280ZX is as impressive as it is visually. As with all of our cars it received a full service before we started driving it. To bring it's service up-to-date we had performed:

Oil and filter change
Coolant system flush
Replace rear hatch struts
Replace rear brake pads rotors and grease all friction points
Front end alignment
Replace rear struts
Replace wiper blades
Replace shifter bushings
Replace rear wiper motor

Nearly $2000 was spent in prepping this car to bring its service up-to-date. We have been driving it and are happy to report that it drives beautifully, everything works, and it has been extremely reliable. Also, this 280 ZX is a head turner anywhere it goes.

As exceptional as this car is, it is not new. Although everything in the car works, the radio display is intermittent. However, the radio and antenna worked perfectly. The radio holds its memory on the stations and performs without flaw.

This 280ZX is turnkey and will make its new owner proud. This can be a welcome addition to any collection, and excellent candidate in a preservation class in a Concours, or it can be driven daily.
