On January 2, 1973 Dr. Edward Saradarian took delivery of this beautiful 300SEL 4.5 from Powers Mercedes-Benz in Morristown, New-Jersey. The car was ordered with an Electric Sunroof, Two Tone horns, and a Limited Slip Differential and carried a price tag of $14,590, an exorbitant amount of money for a car in 1973.

The Dr. drove the car daily for years. As Mercedes-Benz came out with new models, he purchased them, but kept his beloved 300SEL 4.5 in his collection until he passed away. A few years ago we acquired it from a Mercedes specialist who had purchased it from his estate. Being that we purchased it as part of our collection, we were looking for the finest example we could find and we were not disappointed.

This 300SEL 4.5 arrived to us in all original unmolested condition. It had received a repaint approximately 15 years prior to our purchasing it. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the repaint, its magnificent. Painted in its original color of Blue Metallic, the paint quality is close to flawless. Photographs of the repaint process are in the gallery. Equally impressive is the chrome. There is no pitting, and it gleams throughout the car. Looking at this car it's hard to believe its 50 years old. Inside it is equally impressive. The leather was all original and showed the usual wear in the front seats. We replaced the leather on the front seats and installed armrests for each of the front seats. The back seats show minimum wear so other than being cleaned, we left them alone. All the wood is equally impressive. These cars have wood on the dash facia, door surrounds, and door trim. All the wood is beautiful. It gleams from its gloss finish and is free of any known imperfections. With the exception of the clock, all of the gauge's work. The dash is close to perfect although there is a small crack on top of the instrument binnacle. The blue carpets are in the same condition as the rest of the interior and are covered with the correct coco mats. The 300SEL 4.5 is stunning to look at, it never gets old.

Driving this car is as impressive as looking at it. Although it ran beautifully when we received it, it needed a mechanical reconditioning from sitting and lack of use. In the past three years that we have owned it, over $20,000 has been spent in mechanical work. As a result, this Mercedes is now completely turn key and ready to be driven, showed, and enjoyed. Upon twisting the key, the engine fires up immediately with no smoke. The Air conditioning blows out impressively cold and hard. Everything is tight, the shifter, steering, and all of the operating controls, nothing feels old or loose. Being that this model has an air suspension, the ride is impeccable. The air suspension works as it should and the gallery shows pictures of the car at all ride heights. Our gallery shows over 150 photos and several videos. If we missed something that you would like to see, just reach, we are happy to provide you with anything you need.

We are very proud of this car. It's one of the most impressive W109 body Mercedes-Benz we have ever seen. At Pedigree Motorcars we show cars by appointment only. To arrange your private viewing, contact Ken Baker at 561-866-1601.
