In 1978 a Mercedes diesel was the “it” car for the wealthy. When Mercedes introduced W116 body luxury sedan with the 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine it was an instant hit. Today the incredible quality of these cars has stood the test of time and are still some of the highest quality cars ever to be produced. Presented here is one of the finest examples to found anywhere. This Light Ivory with Bamboo MB Tex 300SD is not only beautiful, but mechanically sorted and ready for every day use. On the day we photographed it, it was 95° outside. The engine temperature never got to normal it was running cool all day and the air conditioning was blowing ice cold. Incredibly impressive! As shown in the driving video's you can see it ran cool and all of the gages work as they should.

Maintained to the highest standards, everything in this Mercedes works. Even the cruise control and the clock are working. In the past two years, over $13,000 has been spent to bring this car to the mechanical excellence it is in today. No expense was spared. September 2022 in addition to some cosmetic refreshening, a marque expert also performed:

• Replaced fuel filter
• Replaced tires
• Wheel alignment
• Replace transmission gasket filter and oil
• Replace all belts
• Replace front brake discs
• Replace rear brake discs
• Replace front brake pads
• Replace rear brake pads
• Replace both front brake hoses
• Replace both rear brake hoses
• Service the braking system

• This was in addition to engine bay restoration and dry ice the chassis.

Being part of a large collection, the car was used sparingly. Always maintained and stored in a climate controlled facility it is rust free and absolutely stunning. The paint on this car absolutely gleams as does all of the Chrome. The rubber moldings are close to perfect and as you can see in the photographs, they are soft and pliable and there is no cracking. All of the alloy wheels have been re powder coated and are flawless. Inside this car looks almost close to new. There is no cracking on any of the door panels or dash. The zebrano wood looks beautiful and is also free of cracks. Every light on the dash and console work as they should. The MB tex seats look perfect, and they still have their firmness. Even the netting in the rear seat backs is tight as it should be. This 300 SD really defies its age.

Every car that we get at pedigree gets a thorough inspection and service prior to us putting it on the market. To prepare this 300 SD we had performed:

• Change oil and filter
• Replace rear differential mount
• Replace left side window regulator
• Replace air conditioning expansion valve
• Replace air conditioning pressure switch evacuate and recharge the system
• Repair air conditioning control panel and replace light socket
• Repair air conditioning vacuum leak
• Repair antenna mast
• Replace right rear door vacuum actuator
• Replace main shift lever bushing and adjust shift linkage replace cruise control relay

Over $4000 was spent in recent service work to make this Mercedes completely turnkey for its new owner to drive and enjoy.
